Criminal Justice Degree

Hiram’s new criminal justice degree program spans a spectrum of study, from human rights and democracy to power and public health concerns like the opioid crisis. Students will gain vital skills in both written and oral communication, critical thinking, and problem solving.

This northeast Ohio criminal justice major can be combined with the pre-law or social work concentrations. Current students pair the Crime, Law and Justice program with:

  • Sociology
  • Psychology
  • Computer Science

As part of Hiram Connect, the criminal justice major includes practical study through an internship, research, or study-away experience. With our convenient location in Hiram, we are proud to help students in surrounding cities like Akron, Youngstown, and Cleveland to obtain their criminal justice degree to allow them to follow their career goals.

About the Program

Program Summary

Students will take courses analyzing the underpinning issues in law and society, ethics, social inequality, criminology, and American government. Those courses provide the basis for more applied courses such as policing, corrections, and substance abuse.
