Program Summary
The accounting degree program, embedded in the liberal arts, focuses on developing students’ analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills and emphasizes the integration of theory and its practical application. You will be strongly encouraged to extend your learning beyond the classroom setting through course projects in the field, internships, study abroad programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills lead to success in our accounting degree program and the field itself, so you will experience a concentration on writing in all your courses. This emphasis prepares you with both the technical and analytical skills employers want. Our northeast Ohio accounting degree students also have the opportunity to join professional organizations, including the Ohio Society of CPA’s and the Institute of Management Accountants, introducing them to the industry before they graduate.

Ways to Get Involved at Hiram College
Hiram students who take part in our accounting and finance degree program have the opportunity to join the following professional organizations, introducing them to the industry before they graduate:

Additionally, we have over 30 other clubs that students pursuing their finance and accounting degree can join to explore other passions outside of their major. The village of Hiram, Ohio houses Hiram College, which makes our campus central to Akron, Youngstown, and Cleveland.
