About Our Pre-Dentistry Courses

Program Summary

The seven-year Hiram B.A. to CWRU D.M.D. program is a new, accelerated option for high-achieving high school students. On top of Hiram College admission guidelines, applicants to the B.A. to D.M.D. program should possess the following credentials:

  • Test scores: ACT – 29; SAT – 1300
  • GPA: 3.5 or higher (unweighted)
  • Preferred: Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) course credit (the Office of Admission will consider the availability of such coursework at the applicant’s high school)

Once accepted, pre-dental students will major in either biomedical humanities or biology at Hiram College, and must meet the academic requirements in order to matriculate into CWRU’s School of Dental Medicine after the third year of undergraduate coursework. Following the first year of successful study at CWRU, students will then receive a B.A. from Hiram.

Future dentists can earn direct admittance into dental school at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Dental Medicine after completing three years of the undergraduate dentistry program at Hiram College.

DENTAL ADVISING

In order to ensure B.A. graduation requirements are met, alongside the requirements for accelerated entry into dental school, pre-dental students accepted into the 3+4 program are expected to take a proactive approach to academic advising.

As a Hiram College undergraduate, pre-dental students should meet with the following twice yearly to stay on track:

  • CWRU’s School of Dental Medicine admission staff
  • Hiram College’s pre-health advisor

These meetings are designed to check on the progress of the students during the undergraduate phase of this program and address any problems or questions.
