Hiram College

Hiram College’s Northwoods Field Station and the surrounding beauty of northern Michigan’s remote wilderness provide a magnificent setting to begin your own Hiram experience.

Dates: August 17-22, 2018

The Northwoods Experience is an five-day adventure at Hiram’s Northwoods Field Station located in the vast wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The goal is to enjoy the beauty of nature and build a sense of community with your future Hiram College classmates.

During our stay, we will immerse ourselves in the vast wilderness in and around the College’s rustic camp. Days will be filled canoeing, kayaking, hiking, swimming and reflecting. Field trips to stunning sandstone cliffs of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and crystal clear waters of Lake Superior are included! Be prepared to enjoy long days of outdoor activities.

Participants will arrive at Hiram College on August 17 in the evening for a cookout and camping. The adventure begins early the next morning as we depart for the wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We will return to campus the evening of August 22. First-year Institute begins August 23.
