STUDY IN JAPAN
Kanda University of International Studies (KUIS), founded in 1987, is a private university dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in international studies, particularly in the areas of foreign languages, intercultural communication, Japanese culture, linguistics, and international studies. In 2003 it was awarded the “Good Practice Award” for innovation in education by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology. There are four departments on campus:English, Asian Languages (Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai), Spanish and Portuguese, and International Communication. The university also has a Graduate School Program and a Japanese Language and Culture Program for foreign students. About 3700 students are enrolled in the various courses.
KUIS is located along Tokyo Bay between Tokyo and Narita International Airport in a metropolitan area of Chiba prefecture called Makuhari. The university is set in an educational zone with other universities and educational facilities. Makuhari Messe Convention and Exhibition Center, the World Business Garden, international hotels, new apartment complexes, shopping facilities, and several parks are a part of this new community. Makuhari beach and a Japanese garden with a tea-house are also located close-by.
Makuhari is an international new urban centre that continues to develop today, where the world’s people, things and information mingle together. All the elements of ‘work, live, learn, play’ are here in this future-oriented city looking out onto Tokyo Bay.
Areas with different characteristics are a feature of Makuhari: practical research business districts, residential zones with excellent city design, a town center with abundant commercial facilities and an educational district where KUIS is located.
And, when you step into the campus, you will see school buildings so sophisticated you might mistake them for art galleries as well as beautifully manicured gardens and sports grounds. The open and relaxed atmosphere of Kanda University of International Studies is also one of Makuhari’s attractions.
