Hiram College admits transfer students to the nursing program for fall (August) and spring (January) semesters. To assure adequate evaluate of standing, transfer applicants are encouraged to apply by July 1 for fall semester and no later than Dec. 1 for the spring semester. Those who wish to apply after these dates should email the Nursing Recruiter directly at email@example.com.
Applicants must also include transcripts from all secondary institutions attended. (An essay is also strongly recommended for holistic application review.) Students who have less than one year of full-time college credit [12 credit hours] are required to submit a Secondary School Report form, high school transcript and scores on the ACT or SAT I Assessment.
Applicants who have been enrolled in nursing courses from another institution will be required to submit a letter of standing from the nursing program Director /Dean /Designee and may have an interview with the Hiram College program director.
Courses Hiram generally accepts for credit are those in which students have earned a “C” or better and which are comparable to courses offered at Hiram. No limit is placed on the number of credits that may be transferred to Hiram; however, students must complete a minimum of 45 hours at Hiram to receive a degree.
Transfer students are evaluated in a holistic manner. Admission is based on the quality of transfer coursework with a minimum college GPA of 2.8.
Individuals with experience in the Armed Forces of the United States, the National Guard, or in the Reserves~Hiram College’s individual and holistic approach to admission review is well-suited for those with a military background. As with transfer students, personnel in the Office of the Registrar evaluate documents submitted by the student and determine equivalency to Hiram courses. Courses specific to those required in the nursing curriculum require additional evaluation by the nursing program director and/or faculty associated with specific courses, to determine equivalency and awarding of credit.
