The department maintains a collection of career literature in Colton 15, including the books “101 Careers in Mathematics” and “Great Jobs for Math Majors.” The publication Assistantships and Graduate Fellowships in the Mathematical Sciences is also available in Colton 15.

Planning for your post-Hiram profession begins early in your undergraduate experience at the College. To provide students with insight into the range of careers available to mathematics majors, Hiram’s Mathematics Department coordinates a number of career development exercises. Students and faculty pay on-site visits to professional mathematicians who are employed in a range of venues. Past site visits have included organizations such as the Cleveland Clinic, General Motors, Penske Logistics.

Graduates of the mathematics program at Hiram College are fully prepared for success in professional and academic environments. Recent Hiram alumni can be found conducting research in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Cleveland Clinic, working for the Department of Labor Statistics in Washington, D.C., working as a statistical consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, in Washington, D.C., providing professional advice about retirement pensions with global consulting firm ACE Insurance, teaching high school mathematics and working for American Greetings, among other professional careers. Graduates of our department have been accepted into graduate programs at a range of prestigious universities, including Case Western Reserve University, Princeton University, the University of Virginia, the University of Florida, Indiana University, the University of Iowa, Miami University, the University of Michigan, the Ohio State University, the University of Pittsburgh, Purdue University, the University of Rochester and Texas A&M University.
