n our experience the address for camp will not take you there and may take you to a nearby two-track road instead. We recommend following the directions provided when you book your stay. Further, your map may become inactive after leaving the town of Wetmore.
Yes. We have five canoes that can be used on Cherry Lake along with paddles and personal flotation devices.
No. Firewood is provided at camp and is included as part of the supply fee.
No. The nearest cell phone access is in the town of Wetmore (approximately 10 minutes from camp). There is a landline in the lodge for making and receiving calls.
Yes. The water that comes from the well is potable.
Yes. However, all rules and regulations set by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources must be followed, including the purchase of a fishing license. Anyone under the age of 17 may fish without a license. Any adult actively assisting a minor who does not have a license must have a fishing license.
Munising Memorial Hospital is located approximately 20 minutes from camp and has an urgent care facility and emergency room. Directions to the hospital are provided at camp. We do have a first aid kit onsite for minor injuries.
Wetmore is approximately 10 minutes from camp but has limited accommodations (has a gas station). Munising is approximately 20 minutes from camp and has a nice downtown area by Lake Superior with shops, restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, hardware stores, and a bowling alley. Marquette is much larger and has almost anything you could need. It is located 45 minutes to one hour from camp.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (https://www.nps.gov/piro/index.htm) is a beautiful day trip and the eastern edge of the park is approximately 20 minutes from camp. In addition to hiking and visiting the main attractions, we recommend paddling and have had good success booking trips through Uncle Ducky’s in Munising https://www.paddlingmichigan.com/kayaking-tours/) and Northland Outfitters in Germfask. You can also take glass bottom boat tours that leave from the town of Munising and cruise the lakeshore and explore shipwrecks in Lake Superior. Hiawatha National Forest offers miles upon miles of hiking trails and rivers and lakes that can also be paddled with some advance planning. Other nearby attractions include, Seney National Wildlife Refuge (https://www.fws.gov/refuge/seney/) (~45 minutes), Tahquamenon Falls State Park (https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=428&type=SPRK) (~1 hour and 45 minutes), and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Whitefish Point (https://www.shipwreckmuseum.com/) (~2 hours and 15 minutes).
