Directions from Hiram College
From campus, head east on Rt. 305/Wakefield Rd. Turn right onto Wheeler Rd (1.7 miles). JHBBFS is on the right side of the road (0.8 miles). Please use the visitor’s entrance. Parking is available next to the main building. Please note that Google Maps may take you to the staff entrance and down the service road to the oil well.

Hours of Operation
Our hiking trails and visitor center are open to the public. The visitor’s center is located in the main building and the trail system can be accessed from the parking lot. Trail maps are available at the trailhead pavilion. JHBBFS offers over 5 miles of trails through old-growth forest, secondary forest and prairies and takes you by wetlands and streams. Restrooms are available inside the main building.

Daily 8:30 AM-4:00 PM. Closed during major holidays.
Hiking Trails
Open every day from dawn to dusk.
Our trails are open to foot traffic only. Bicycles, horses, and motorized vehicles are not permitted. Visitors must stay on designated trails. For the safety of our visitors and wildlife, dogs must be leashed at all times and waste must be picked up. Colored tags and tree markings are located along the trail system to help you find your way.
The trails are maintained by JHBBFS staff and students and are natural surface trails. We suggest hiking shoes or boots for your safety as you will likely encounter rocks, roots, and mud.
Fires, grills, hunting, fishing, trapping, swimming, wading, and camping are prohibited. Alcohol is not permitted on the trail system or in pavilions. Please do not pick flowers or collect plants, animals, or other materials. We also ask that you do not interfere with research plots or equipment.
