Hanif Abdurraqib, author of Go Ahead in the Rain: Notes on a Tribe Called QuestThey Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us; and The Crown Ain’t Worth Much spoke to first-year students at the common hour and then read from his work at an evening presentation.

Motoi Katsumata: Professor at Meisei University, Tokyo, Japan

Motoi Katsumata spoke on the ways in which the classic Japanese fairytale “Momotaro” has been adapted over the centuries to justify modern Japanese wars. His talk included images from old printings of the tale to modern YouTube videos of Momotaro.

Dave Lucas: Ohio Poet Laureate

Dave Lucas, Ohio’s Poet Laureate from 2018-2020, visited Hiram College and visited multiple classes and read from his work, including his prize-winning collection Weather as well as more recent work.
