Hiram College

On October 3-5 the students and administrators of the Garfield Center for Public Leadership visited Washington D.C. in order to study political issues “up-close.” This trip included a visit to the Pentagon, a seminar (hosted by the GCPL, and held at The Washington Center) on the topic of the Green New Deal, and a brunch gathering in Georgetown at the house of a Hiram alum. Thanks to this trip, the Garfield Scholars had the chance to meet directly with career members of the U.S. Armed Services, with policy experts, and with high-level government workers, and thus they could begin to get a sense of how policy making-and-implementation in the nation’s capital really works.
