On-Campus Opportunities
These are a few of the on-campus opportunities Hiram students have to apply their knowledge in real world environments:
- Every year, several English and Creative Writing majors assist with the production of the award-winning Hiram Poetry Review, one of the oldest professional literary journals in the nation dedicated to the publication of poetry.
- The Hiram Investment Club manages a portfolio initially valued at $50,000 that has consistently outperformed the S&P 500.
Ten biology students currently are researching the genome sequence of a bacterium with Professor Brad Goodner.
- Every year, political science, history, and other majors test their knowledge of public policy through the highly competitive Model U.N. program.
- Hiram mathematics students compete annually in the international Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM). Our students’ consistently excellent performance has earned the College recognition as an “Outstanding MCM Team.”
- Students from various majors are conducting on-going research of indigenous amphibian and reptile populations at the James H. Barrow Field Station.
- The Hiram College web site is produced with the help of student interns. The Office of College Relations also hires students to help with media relations and event coordination.
