Hiram Film Academy

The Exquisite Corpse:  A Hiram Ghost Story

...a light-hearted examination of mystery and suspense

July 8-11, 2014 (Residential)

Age:  Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors, with preference given to juniors and seniors

Cost:  $300

Inspired by the creative energy of early cinema innovators, the Hiram Film Academy involves young participants in the discovery of the language of film. Using Digital Video and simple editing software, students will collaborate on a group project, learning a variety of editing, light, sound and directing techniques as well as producing short individual segments with clever transitional devices. Screenings and discussion of the history of film round out this experience. Juniors and Seniors with an interest in film, photography and new media are encouraged to apply.

Hiram College will award a $1,000 scholarship to every high school student who attends a 2014 summer academy and enrolls as a full time student at Hiram College.  Renewable up to four years.  (Potential of $4,000 total in scholarship award.)

Who conducts the Hiram Film Academy?

Linda Bourassa, Professor of Art with an expertise in film and photography
