Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy: Learning to Launch (for Barberton Community Foundation Scholarship recipients only)

Cost:  $25

Students will immerse themselves in the skills needed to help develop new ideas and business concepts, and apply these skills in a team-based concept pitch competition.  Participants will be taken through the steps of creativity, innovation, opportunity recognition, market analysis, start-up financials, and personal, professional and leadership development. Entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business; it is the process by which you can "be the change you want to see in the world." (Ghandi)

Hiram College will award a $1,000 scholarship to every high school student who attends a 2015 academy and enrolls as a full time student at Hiram College.  Renewable up to four years.  (Potential of $4,000 total in scholarship award.)

Where is the Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy:  Learning to Launch?

The Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy:  Learning to Launch is a four-day, residential summer learning experience held on the Hiram College campus, located in Hiram, Ohio.  Hiram's campus is a 45-minute drive from Barberton.  Participants will stay three nights in a residence hall.

The 2015 Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy:  Learning to Launch is aimed at high school students who are rising juniors and seniors. Please submit one registration form and one payment per student.

Cost and Payment Arrangements

The total cost for the Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy for Barberton Community Foundation Scholarship recipients is $25.  Meals, housing and all activities associated with the academy are covered in this price.  We thank the Barberton Community Foundation for their generous support of this program.  The remaining cost of $335 to attend the Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy is being generously funded by the Barberton Community Foundation in the form of a scholarship for each Barberton student who is eligible to participate.

Please be aware that the first applicants to complete the registration process in its entirety and submit their full payment will be considered for acceptance.  The online registration form is linked to two online payment options.  Payment arrangements include:

Online by Credit Card: Hiram College accepts American Express, Discover, and MasterCard.  When paying by credit card, please note that a 2.5% convenience fee will be included in the total amount charged.

Online by Electronic Check: There is no convenience fee when paying by E-check.

The deadline for registration is May 15, 2015.   Interested students are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Getting Ready for Learning to Launch

A week or so before the Hiram Entrepreneurship Academy:  Learning to Launch, students will receive via email a link to materials for the academy including:

  • Emergency Medical Form (must be signed by your parent or guardian in order to participate)
