Betsy Keefer ’67 Endowed Internship Fund

Funded by Hiram College graduate Betsy Keefer ’67 who had a distinguished career as the CEO of numerous Girl Scout councils around the United States, this fund is intended to support and encourage student internships with non-profit organizations, with preference being given to interns working with local Girl Scout Councils and/or the Girl Scouts of the United States of America.  Internships with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio will be posted in Hiram CareerNet on the Career Development website as available. Internships at other councils and at Girl Scouts of America are available on their websites.  Internships are available to both women and men.

Stipends of up to $2500 are available for any semester but the majority of the money is saved for summer internships. The stipend may be used in one of these ways:

  • To serve as summer earnings if the internship is unpaid
  • To supplement low income from a nonprofit organization

To apply, please follow the Applications Procedures on the Funding Internships page. Applications must be sent electronically to Career Development at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view the published deadline which is emailed to all students each spring. A faculty committee will read all applications and make the final decisions. Recipients of these funds will be expected to participate in an internship workshop, submit a thank you letter to Career & Academic Development, and create a poster about their experience to be displayed during the semester following the completion of the internship.
