Networking with Current Students
Hiram College encourages our current students to learn from the experiences of our alums. There are several times when you could be helpful to current students in their career development:
As students explore their interests and learn about careers, they often need to add to the information they read online or in books in the Career Center Library by asking additional questions from professionals in the field. These Information Interviews, not job interviews, help students learn what the career field is really like, what changes are anticipated in the field, and how they should be preparing for a future in that field. As a Hiram College alum, you are ideally suited to helping a current student learn more about your field.
In addition, networking is a very important tool in career exploration as a way to find other professionals to interview and as a tool in an internship or job search. Your knowledge of the work world could be very important in helping a current student make important professional contacts.
Finally, we need your help on campus with practice interviews, alumni panels and class presentations, and to identify internships and entry level job opportunities. All of these volunteer options can be accessed through the Alumni Career Network.
