Career Development assists students to explore and choose majors, gain career-related experience through internships or summer jobs and to make plans for the future. Choosing a career interest in a complex global economy can sometimes be challenging, and we rely on resources from our engaged alumni, active employers from the community, and experienced faculty to help students be well-informed about the choices they are making.
We offer a wide range of programs and classes during the academic year including Putting Your Major to Work, the Resume ER from 10 p.m. to midnight once a semester, live and virtual career fairs, and graduate school fairs following Grad School 101. Many self-exploration resources such as FOCUS 2 career planning software are available on our website, as are other resources on resumes, cover letters/emails, and LinkedIn networking. Employers post internships and jobs for students to view in Hiram CareerNet, our online employment database, where students can also post resumes for review, create job search portfolios, and download career advice podcasts from the CandidCareer link.
We welcome your interest in our students. Please click on the Employer Resource section below for more information.
