Resources for Adult Students
The Career Center offers many resources to help adults in career transition. Our office is open on Weekend College Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and at other times by appointment. Check the Workshop listing in your Schedule of Classes for our career exploration and job search workshops.
In addition to the resources online for students to explore liberal arts majors, apply to graduate school, or plan a job search, we have selected these sites specifically for adults planning a career transition:
- What Color is Your Parachute
- The Career Advisor - The 11 Steps to Career Transition
- Ask the Headhunter
- How To Make $1000 A Minute - Salary Negotiations
As you plan your job search, use the Employment Resources to connect to local employers, but remember to use other job search techniques like networking with friends, Hiram alums and business associates, research on local employers and information interviews to add to your options. Many positions are still filled through personal contacts, not online.
Hiram CareerNet, our online resume and job posting database, contains jobs for new college graduates. While some of these jobs are for candidates with no work experience, others may be right for your new professional level. Create an account, post your resume and view the jobs to see if they are right for you.
