Campus Life

Housing Selection Process

  1. All rooms on campus will be available except those set aside as needed for medical accommodation, incoming first year students (first year floors, and sections on floors), and other needs determined by the Residential Education Office.
  2. Students will be grouped according to semester hours completed at the end of the fall semester. Any current seniors anticipating a need for housing the following year, for example, fifth year seniors, must get prior approval from Residential Education, as well as the Registrar.
    1. Group A: 90+ earned credit hours or more
    2. Group B: 56-89 earned credit hours
    3. Group C: 24-55 earned credit hours
    4. Group D: 0-23 earned credit hours
  3. Groupings will be announced via my.hiram.edu on February 14th.  Students will be encouraged to double check their grouping and ask questions. All questions must be received in writing to the Residential Education office by February 19, 5 pm.
  4. Within each group, students will be assigned a randomly selected lottery number. Once a lottery number is assigned, it is final for that individual.
  5. Lottery Numbers will be posted on my.hiram.edu on, February 21st and will be verified on housing selection night. Lottery Numbers are non-transferable and may not be exchanged or sold.
  6. The roommate with the better room selection number "pulls in" roommate(s) with a higher room selection number.
  7. Rooms must be filled to capacity.
