Why Hiram
The office of Professional and Graduate Studies offers graduate level courses for Professional Educators during the summer. These classes help teachers in the K-12 arena complete their continuing education requirements. Most classes will meet on Hiram College's beautiful campus where small class sizes enhance the learning experience.
Comments from professional educators taking our classes:
Sign Language for Teachers:
"Very useful for all grade levels and subject levels – can be adapted for use in any classroom."
Biological Diversity and Ecological Sampling:
"Learned very usable teaching techniques which I will use and share with colleagues."
It's Alive – Science in the Schoolyard:
"I have learned a lot that I can and will do with the classroom outdoors – numerous activities, being outdoors in all seasons, using investigative activities, looking at the standards with a different perspective."
Multisensory Structured Language: The Orton-Gillingham Approach:
"I can immediately see uses for this in my classroom to help my seventh grade struggling readers who would otherwise fall through the cracks. I can see how I could very easily help them fill in the gaps."
