Registration underway for summer and fall Weekend College and M.A. classes

The fall roster of undergraduate and graduate weekend courses for working adults has appeared in several Northeast Ohio newspapers. There are also detailed descriptions online.

Weekend College students attend class two weekends per month beginning August 24. Weekend College students may select among eight majors and seven minors. Students complete their degree at their own pace – sometimes in fewer than two years – with the convenience of less frequent on-site class meetings.

Tuition for the Weekend College is among the lowest of Northeast Ohio colleges and universities.

Admission to the Weekend College is on a rolling basis. Interested prospective students should complete the application process in order have the best chance to get the classes they want. While demand for summer courses has increased this year, a limited number of classes are still available.

In 1977, the Weekend College at Hiram College became the first in Ohio to provide adult learners the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree by attending classes on weekends. Since then, more than 1,800 working professionals, parents, and other non-traditional students have earned their bachelors of arts through this innovative curriculum. The Weekend College currently enrolls 300 students. The average age of the students is 38, and almost 90 percent work outside the home.

See us in action on June 23

The Weekend College encourages those interested in learning more about the weekend format to attend an information session on Saturday, June 23. Individual appointments also are available. See our website for details.

Applications due for the M.A. in interdisciplinary studies

Space is still available for the Master of Arts in interdisciplinary studies program, with an application deadline of July 1 for fall admission. The M.A. in interdisciplinary studies is a unique blend of liberal arts and sciences courses ideally suited for intellectually curious students.

The program culminates in a capstone project that integrates classroom study with practical application in the student’s area of interest. Graduate students attend classes in the same, convenient weekend format as the Weekend College. Contact the Office of Graduate Studies for more information.
