Welcome to Commencement 2007 at Hiram College

On behalf of the Hiram College community, I would like to invite you to celebrate the College’s 157th Commencement with us. There will be pomp and circumstance, great joy and sense of accomplishment, and perhaps a little sadness for those leaving Hiram Hill. Please join us. It will be a special day to remember.

Thomas V. Chema
President

Commencement is Saturday, May 12, 2007. All activities are handled through the Office of Special Events. Please direct further questions to Anita Stocz or Teal Young at 330.569.5900.

Commencement Speaker: E.D. Hill, FOX News Live anchor

E.D. Hill, anchor of FOX News Live, will deliver the Hiram College Commencement address on Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m. on the Campus Green.

Hill anchors the daily national FOX News Live segment from 11 a.m. to noon. Prior to her current position, Hill was co-anchor on FOX & Friends, the network’s weekday morning program. She has broad national and large-market news experience.

Prior to joining FOX in 1998, Hill was a contributing reporter on ABC’s Good Morning America (1995-96) and the business anchor on CBS Morning News (1989-90). She also has been a reporter and news anchor in New York, Boston, and Pittsburgh.

Though a seasoned news professional, Hill is contemporary and, as she is still a student pursuing a master’s degree in liberal arts at Harvard University, can relate well to both traditional college-age graduates and the adult learners who will be graduating from Hiram’s Weekend College on the occasion of its 30th anniversary

A graduate of the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mother of eight children, Hill has received a Golden Quill award for her live news reporting, as well as an EMMY. She is pursuing a master’s degree in liberal arts at Harvard University.

Hill wrote a collection of personality profiles titled Going Places: How America’s Best and Brightest Got Started Down the Road of Life. It was published in 2005.

She participates in many outdoors activities, including tennis, water and snow skiing and fresh and salt water fishing and has been involved in the Walleye Fishing Tournament for ALS.

Hill has served as the Chair of Gala for Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital, is a former board member of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and the Big Apple Circus, and has been active in the Austin (Texas) Women’s Symphony League and the Junior League.
