The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to provide a challenging and rigorous undergraduate education in mathematics in order to prepare students for graduate work and for careers in teaching and industry. This goal is accomplished by offering each student a demanding set of course requirements and by extensive mentoring by faculty on academic topics, careers and graduate education.
The Department of Mathematics offers both a major and a minor in mathematics. The mathematics program is designed to prepare students for positions in business and industry, for graduate work in mathematics, statistics, and operations research, for professional programs, and for teaching mathematics.
