Outreach and Activities
The Chemistry Club can be found on campus and in the community, advancing the American Chemical Society's mission. In recent years, students have networked with professionals at ACS meetings and conferences, helped judge district science fairs, planned educational events on campus for Mole Day and more, and planned educational outreach in conjunction with Northeast Ohio Medical University, local elementary schools, and Hiram College's Halloween and Earth Day events.
The Chemistry Club makes science fun for all audiences by hosting educational events that show how chemistry is ever-present in our world. Recent events include the "science of scent" and "chemistry of color."
The Hiram College Chemistry Club extends its outreach to the local youth community. In 2015, they hosted a chemistry education table at the Hiram Halloween celebration, co-sponsored an art drive and more.
The Chemistry Club's affiliation with the American Chemical Society allows for extensive professional development and networking opportunities. Students have presented research posters in front of local professionals, heard lectures and presentations from well-known professionals and academics and received scholarships and awards from the ACS organization.
