Nathan Straffon '12
I am a senior biomedical humanities and sociology major.
I chose Hiram because I had family in Cleveland, the Garfield Scholarship and the Biomedical Humanities degree.
I enjoy playing rugby for the first time in my life at Hiram.
I am working with SOS to make it more sustainable.
I went on the Biomes of the World trip and got to see a whole different perspective of my ecological impact on the earth and it scared the crap out of me! However, I now feel that whatever I do in the future, it MUST be environmentally friendly.
One summer, I worked with Organizing for America, which is run by the Ohio Democrats. I would go door to door urging Democrats to vote in the upcoming November election. I gained a new appreciation for slow and tedious work, which is surprisingly rewarding.
Psychology has been my favorite course, because the course putting order on much of what I was already doing in my head.
I plan to join the Peace Corps.
