Sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) recorded her second double-double of the season, but the Hiram College women’s basketball team fell to Kenyon 62-49 on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers fall to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in NCAC play, while the Ladies push their record to 3-4, 1-0.
Yost finished the game with 18 points, on 5-of-10 shooting, and 10 rebounds.
Senior Kelsey Koskinen (Madison) added 11 points and four rebounds for the Terriers.
Yost scored six of Hiram’s first eight points to give the Terriers an early 8-4 advantage.
But Kenyon stormed back with a 13-4 spurt to jump in front 17-10 with 9:19 remaining in the first half.
The Ladies would continue to expand their lead over the rest of the half and took a 34-19 advantage into the break.
Kenyon would eventually build a 56-36 lead, but Hiram would use a 13-2 late run to get within nine points, at 58-49, with under a minute to go.
The Ladies would sink four straight free throws to put the game away.
Hiram finished the game 16-of-45 (35.6 percent) in shooting, while Kenyon was 25-of-62 (40.3 percent).
The Ladies won the rebounding battle 42-35.
Hiram will begin a seven-game road trip on Tuesday, when it takes on Thiel (Pa.) in a non-conference contest at 7 p.m.
