WOOSTER, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by The College of Wooster, 3-0, today (Saturday, Oct. 2) in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener in Wooster. [Game Stats]
With the loss, the Terriers are now 4-6-2 overall and 0-1 in the NCAC. The Fighting Scots improve to 7-5 overall and 1-0 NCAC.
Wooster outshot Hiram, 18-5, for the game and scored all of its goals in the first half. The Scots got on the board early with their first goal at the 8:57 minute mark with a score from Paige Piper. Wooster extended its lead to 2-0 with a score during the 25th minute by Maggie Kehm and tallied its final goal of the game from Erika Kay at the 26:47 mark en route to the 3-0 shutout.
In goal for Hiram, senior Emily Bristol (Worcester, N.Y./Worcester Central) started the game and played 85:50. She allowed three goals, while making seven saves, but falls to 4-5-2 overall with the loss. Sophomore Katie Valaitis (Lewis Center/Olentangy) played the final 4:10 and did not allow a goal and had no saves.
Hiram will travel to University Circle on Wednesday, Oct. 6 for a non-conference game against Case. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
