The Hiram College women’s soccer team fell to John Carroll 3-2 on Wednesday evening at Henry Field.
The Terriers see their record drop to 3-3-0 on the season, while the Blue Streaks improve to 3-3-0.
The Blue Streaks struck for the lone goal of the first period at the 30:36 mark, to take the 1-0 lead.
In the second half, JCU pushed its lead to 2-0 on a header off of a corner kick by Maria Ploplis.
But Hiram stromed back, scoring twice in a three minute span to knot the game at 2-2.
At the 59:46 mark, sophomore Ashley Myer (Parma) scored on a free kick from just outside of the box.
Sophomore Allie Glatt (Cincinnati/Seton) would steal the ball from the Blue Streaks and fire a rocket that found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2. The goal was Glatt’s team leading fifth of the season.
But John Carroll answered with under two mintues to play, finding the back of the net off of a corner kick that was loose in the box, to grab the 3-2 win.
Junior goalie Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) made three saves in goal for the Terriers and drops to 3-3-0 on the season.
John Carroll outshot Hiram 14-9 in the contest and also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Hiram will play next on Saturday, when it welcomes DePauw (Ind.) to Henry Field for both teams NCAC opener at 5 p.m.
