HIRAM, OHIO – The Hiram College women’s soccer team was defeated by Denison University, 3-2, today (Saturday, Oct. 30) in the North Coast Athletic Conference and season finale at the Hiram Soccer Complex on Senior Day. [Game Stats]
With the loss, the Terriers end their season at 5-12-2 overall and 1-6 in the NCAC. The Big Red improve to 11-5 overall and 5-2 NCAC.
Denison drew first blood with a goal by Maggie Hoskin at the 7:15 mark making the score 1-0. Hiram evened the score 1-1 at the 29:00 mark on a goal by sophmore Olivia Dagg (Brampton, Ontario/Central Peel Secondary), her first of the season, and an assist by senior, and current NCAC Player of the Week, Claire Conner (Aurora). Denison would regain the lead, this time for good, just before the end of the half when Klemmer scored an unassisted goal with 40:34 on the clock making the score 2-1 at the break.
Denison would make the score 3-1 early in the second half on Klemmer’s second goal of the game, with an assist by Kimmi Oshita, at the 57:45 mark. Hiram would score a late goal when defender Breann Mason (Mentor/Lake Catholic) put the ball in the goal at 85:32 on the clock, making the final score 3-2.
In goal for Hiram, senior Emily Bristol (Worcester, N.Y./Worcester Central) started the game and played all 90 minutes. She allowed three goals, made three saves and ends the season with a 5-11-2 overall mark.
