HIRAM, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s soccer team took a 1-0 victory against John Carroll University today (Wednesday, Sept. 1) in the home and season opener at the Hiram Soccer Complex. [Game Stats]
With the win, the Terriers start off the year with a 1-0 overall record. The Blue Streaks fall to 0-1 overall for the season.
Hiram capitalized on its only shot of the first half with a goal from sophomore midfielder/forward Stephanie Takeuchi (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) at the 25:20 minute mark. The Terriers would maintain their 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Takeuchi goal would turn out to be the game winner even though JCU would record eight shots in the final period, but none would find their mark as senior goaltender Emily Bristol (Worcester, N.Y./Worcester Central) stopped all six shots she faced for the game.
Bristol claimed her first victory of the season to start the year with a 1-0 record and also tallied her first shutout of the season.
Hiram will travel to the PSU-Behrend Tournament on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 4-5 in Erie, Pa.
