Freshman Allie Glatt (Cincinnati/Seton) scored the only goal of the game on a free-kick to beat Carlow (Pa.), 1-0, in the home finale.

Freshman Allie Glatt (Cincinnati/Seton) scored the game-winning goal on a free kick in overtime as the Hiram College women’s soccer team beat Carlow (Pa.) University, 1-0, in a non-conference game and home finale at Charles A. Henry Field.

With the win, Hiram improves to 9-6-1 overall setting a school single-season record for wins in a season.  The previous record of eight wins was set during the 2007 season in which the Terriers finished with an 8-11 mark.

Hiram outshot Carlow (9-6-2), 13-7, after regulation, but neither team could find the back of the net as the game remained deadlocked at 0-0 after 90 minutes of action.

In the first overtime period, the Terriers would get an excellent scoring opportunity following a defensive foul setting up a free-kick for Hiram just in front of the Carlow goal.  Glatt took the shot for the Terriers and found the upper left corner of the net for the only goal of the game just over five minutes into overtime for the 1-0 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) played the entire game and recorded two saves to get the win, improving to 8-6-2 overall, and claimed her fifth shutout victory of the season.

Hiram will wrap-up the 2013 season on Saturday, Nov. 2 when the Terriers travel to Delaware for a North Coast Athletic Conference game against Ohio Wesleyan University.  The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
