The Hiram College women’s lacrosse team suffered a 16-1 setback at NCAC foe DePauw (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers fall to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in the NCAC, while the Tigers improve to 4-4, 1-1.

Sophomore Autumn Osgood (Hyde Park, Vt./Lamiolle Union) scored Hiram’s lone goal of the contest, converting on a free position shot with 16:10 left to play. She now has a team leading 14 goals on the season.

DePauw opened the scoring just 1:54 into the contest to take a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers took control a little later, scoring four goals in a 52 second span to open a 5-0 lead. DePauw led 15-0 at the break.

Freshman Rachel Metcalf (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) made a career-high 15 stops in goal for the Terriers.

Senior Jocelyn Schmidt (Kent/Roosevelt), junior JoLyn Grover (Flint, Mich./Grand Blanc) and Osgood all scooped up three ground balls in the contest. Schmidt also caused a team-high two turnovers.

Hiram plays next on Thursday, when it hits the road for a non-conference matchup at Muskingum that is set to begin at 6 p.m.
