The Hiram College women’s golf team finished in seventh place after the final round of the Denison University Spring Invitational at the Granville Golf Course in Granville.
Hiram shot a team score of 421 strokes in the final round of 18 holes and ended the two-day tournament with an overall total 839 strokes (418+421=839) to place seventh of seven teams. DePauw (Ind.) University won the event with 632 stroks (317+315+632). Wittenberg University was second at 649 strokes (325+324=649) and Allegheny (Pa.) College rounded out the top three with 670 strokes (339+331=670).
Hiram was led individually by freshman Jenelle Bayus (Cortland/Lakeview) who shot a 97 in the final round to post an overall score of 198 strokes (101+97=198) and placed 27th overall individually. Freshman Megan Jennings (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) had the second lowest score on the team with a two-day total 208 strokes (105+103=208) and was followed by junior Carrie Dyer (Canton/McKinley) with 215 strokes (106+109=215). Freshman Alexa Griswold (Conneaut) was fourth on the team at 220 strokes (106+114=220). Completing the list of Hiram competitors was freshman Taylor Stott (Akron/Archbishop Hoban) who posted a tournament-total 235 strokes (123+112=235).
The Terriers will conclude the 2013 spring season with the second North Coast Athletic Conference event in the NCAC Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University next Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5. The two-day tournament will held at the Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware.
