Hiram College women’s basketball player and sophomore forwardSamantha Morford (Jefferson) has been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for her efforts this past week in leading the Terriers to a pair of victories against Westminster (Pa.) and Thiel (Pa.).  [D3hoops.com Team of the Week]

After four games, Hiram currently has a 3-1 overall record and will take its two-game winning streak to Pittsburgh, Pa. for a non-conference game against Carnegie Mellon University tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 28).

Morford averaged a double-double in two games this past week averaging 17 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game.  She began the week scoring 16 points and shot a perfect eight-of-eight from the field against Westminster (Pa.) on Saturday (Nov. 24).  She also grabbed 10 boards in the win against the Titans.  On Sunday (Nov. 25), Morford posted her second straight double-double in as many days with 18 points and 11 rebounds as Hiram topped Thiel, 62-57.

So far this season, Morford leads the team in scoring averaging 15 ppg. while shooting an impressive 67.5 percent (27-of-40) from the field.  She is also the team’s leading rebounder at 7.3 rpg.  In addition, she has tallied one assist, one blocked shot and two steals defensively early in the season.

The game against CMU is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
