Vice President for Business and Finance Steve Jones will be recognized next week as a nominee for Crain’s Cleveland Business‘ annual CFO of the Year.

This is the fifth year that the publication has honored Cleveland-area financial officers. The 40 nominees “have provided standout fiscal direction to their respective organizations, providing guidance during these times of economic uncertainty,” according to Crain’s.

Jones said the nomination is a nice honor, especially during rocky economic times. He said in the past few years, he has focused on small improvements that will add up over the long term.

“My strategy has been a little bit of progress each year,” he said. “Those small improvements add up year over year.”

In the past year, he also led debt restructuring aimed at saving the College $1 million each year.
