HIRAM, OHIO  —  The Hiram College volleyball team made a clean sweep of the weekend, defeating all four opponents, including #4 nationally ranked Wittenberg, enroute to a 3-0, 3-0, 3-0, 3-0 weekend.  With the wins Hiram improves their record to 13-6 and have jumped out to a 4-0 start in conference play.  [Match Statistics vs. Wittenberg] [Match Statistics vs. Denison]

The Terriers first match of the day saw Hiram upset the #4 ranked Wittenberg Tigers 3-0.  A balanced attack, led by Junior Shaina Bryan (South Euclid / Brush) and sophmore Ariel Pund (Macedonia/ Walsh Jesuit) each with nine kills, followed by junior Megan Woodard (Saint Leonard, Md./ Calvert) and sophmore Kristi Opfer (Garrettsville/ Garfield) who were tied at seven kills apiece.  Opfer also added four service aces.  Alyssa Coundourides (Sr., Brunswick/ Parma-Padua Franciscan) fed the front line with 23 assists.

Defensively, senior Kim Sage (Bellevue) helped to upend Wittenberg with 13 digs.

The second match of the day for Hiram saw them sweep the Big Red of Denison 25-9, 25-21 and a close 27-25 final win to go undefeated. Opfer tallied a team high 11 kills in the match followed closely by Brian with seven.  In the assist column it was once again Coundourides leading the way with 19 assists.  Kim Sage had a good game from the line with three service aces.

Sage also sparkled defensively with 11 digs while Bryan nipped at her heels with 10

The Terriers will next start a four match road trip with a Wednesday night match in Cleveland vs. Case Western.  Hiram College will start their match against the Spartans at 7:00 P.M.
