The Hiram College volleyball team improved to a perfect 5-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a three-set victory against Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware.

Hiram (17-7, 5-0 NCAC) defeated Ohio Wesleyan (8-15, 0-6 NCAC) by the scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-14.  Two Terriers recorded double-digit kill totals with sophomore Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) and freshman Marissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan) who both had 10 kills.  Freshman Nikolette Scruggs (Barberton) was third with seven kills.  Freshman Claire Maier (Huntsville/Indian Lake) set up the offense with 23 set assists and fellow freshman Laura Kelly (Massillon/Jackson) recorded four service aces.  In addition, freshman Megan Schaefer (Elyria) tallied three aces.

On defense, senior Danielle Day (Newbury) had 20 digs, followed by Kelly with 13 digs.  Scruggs led the team in blocking with three solo blocks and two assists.  All-NCAC juniorJennifer Yardas (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) was second with two solo blocks.

Hiram will host No. 13 nationally-ranked Wittenberg University in a NCAC match on Friday, Oct. 25 at Price Gymnasium.  Both teams will enter the match with unbeaten records in conference play.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
