Junior libero Danielle Day (Newbury) combined for 25 digs in two matches in a tri-match at Price Gym.

The Hiram College volleyball team posted a pair of victories in a tri-match defeating North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Ohio Wesleyan University, 3-0, and non-conference foe Kalamazoo (Mich.) College, 3-0, in the final two regular-season home games at Price Gymnasium.

With the wins, the Terriers improve to 20-5 overall and 6-0 in the NCAC.  Hiram records its fourth-straight 20-win season and ninth year with 20 or more victories in the last 10 seasons.

Against the Battling Bishops, the Terriers won by the scores of 26-24, 25-20 and 25-21.  Leading the Hiram offense was freshman middle hitter Emily Mortimer (Mogadore/Field) with 11 kills.  Senior outside hitter Ariel Pund (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) was second with nine kills and freshman outside hitter LIndsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) added eight kills.  Setting up the offense was sophomore setter Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) with a match-high 39 assists.  In addition, freshman Kayla Bartlett (Guysville/Alexander) recorded a match-high five service aces.

Defensively, three Terriers recorded 10 or more digs with Day posting 14 digs, Pund was second with 13 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) added 12 digs.  Mortimer recorded a team-best two blocks (two assists).

In the win against the Hornets, Hiram won in straight sets by the scores of 26-24, 25-21 and 25-12.  Offensively, sophomore right-side player Jennifer Yardas (Moont Twp., Pa./Moon) had a team-best eight kills.  Mortimer was second with seven kills and Lindsay Brewer added six kills.  Moore again led the team in assists with 31 and also tallied a team-high two aces.

On defense, Pund had a team-high 13 digs and was followed by Zyle with 12 digs.  In addition, Day also recorded double digits in digs with 11.  Mortimer led the Terrier blocking up front with a total of five blocks (two solo and three assists).

Hiram will wrap-up the regular season on the roald beginning with a non-conference match against Case on Wednesday, Oct. 17.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
