MEADVILLE, PA.  —  The Hiram College volleyball team beat Allegheny (Pa.) College, 3-2 (24-26, 25-12, 24-26, 25-13, 15-6) tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 4) in a North Coast Athletic Conference match in Meadville, Pa.  [Match Statistics]

With the win, the Terriers improve to 16-4 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC.  The Gators fall to 6-13 overall and 1-6 NCAC.

The Hiram offense was led by senior All-NCAC middle hitter Andrea Kaminsky (Canton/GlenOak) who tallied 18 kills.  Junior outside hitter Ariel Pund (Macedonia/Walsh Jesuit) was second with 17 kills and senior All-NCAC middle hitter Kristi Opfer (Garrettsville/Garfield) added 14 kills.  Senior setter Taylor Summerfield (Warren/Howland) led the team in service aces with 48.  Pund also led the team in service aces with five, followed by Summerfield and sophomore Danielle Day (Newbury) with two each.

Defensively, freshman libero Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) had a team-high 18 digs.  Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Venable (Youngstown/Liberty) was second with 16 digs and Pund added 11 digs.  Both Kaminsky and Venable led the team in total blocks with two each.

Hiram will travel to Delaware for a tri-match against NCAC opponent Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, Oct. 8.  The Terriers will take on the Battling Bishops at 1 p.m., followed by a non-conference match against Bethany (W.Va.) College at 3 p.m.
