The Hiram College volleyball team defeated Oberlin College, 3-0, in the North Coast Athletic Conference regular-season finale in Oberlin.
Hiram (18-9, 6-2 NCAC) beat Oberlin (10-17, 4-4 NCAC) in straight sets by the scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-13. Sophomore Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) paced the Terrier offense with 13 kills. Freshman Marissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan) was second with nine kills. All-NCAC junior Tierra Moore (Canton/Canton South) set up the offense with 34 assists.
On defense, senior Danielle Day (Newbury) had 24 digs and junior Regina Zyle(Cleveland/Beaumont) was second with nine digs. All-NCAC sophomore Emily Mortimer(Mogadore/Field) led the team in blocking with three solo and two assisted blocks.
Hiram will make its 12th straight appearance in the NCAC Tournament which begins on Friday, Nov. 8. The Terriers will be the number two seed and will take on seventh-seeded Kenyon College in their first match on Friday. Top-seeded Wittenberg University will serve as host for this year’s tournament with all matches taking place in Springfield.
The Terriers will conclude the regular season when they travel to Brockport, N.Y. for a non-conference tri-match on Saturday, Nov. 2. Hiram will take on Houghton (N.Y.) College in its first match of the day beginning at 1 p.m. and will then take on SUNY-Brockport at 3 p.m.
