Phi Gamma Epsilon of Hiram College will present the first annual Bring on the Heat fundraiser dinner on Oct. 22, 2014. The social fraternity has partnered with the United Way of Portage County for the event.
Fraternity President Josh Turner ’15 said the group wanted to make a difference in the community this fall, and after talking with the United Way, determined there was a need to help those in Portage County who cannot afford to keep their heat on in the upcoming winter.
“Phi Gamma Epsilon is a social fraternity based on fellowship, and we are made up a variety of people who are really close,” Turner, a sociology major, said.
Each year, the fraternity hosts a spaghetti dinner for charity, and they are hoping for a bigger turnout with this new event. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd, with the event starting at 7 p.m. The dinner will be taking place in the Kennedy Center’s Dix Dining Hall.
There is an entrance fee of $10, which includes a buffet dinner. Along with food, there will be chances to win door prizes and raffles. All proceeds of the event will go directly to funding families in Portage County.
Please RSVP by Oct. 17, 2014, to save your spot in helping the families in Portage County: https://hiram.wufoo.com/forms/bring-the-heat-on/.
