Hiram College softball player and sophomore pitcher Meghan Garland (Mineral Ridge) has been named this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Garland helped the Terriers go undefeated this past week finishing a perfect 4-0 with a pair of doubleheader sweeps against conference opponents The College of Wooster and Kenyon College. She was the winning pitcher in all four games, starting three out of the four contests, including pitching two complete games. Garland ended the week with a 1.57 earned run average while striking out 10 batters in 22-and-a-third innings.
For the season, Garland improved her record to 7-8 overall with the four victories and has now appeared in a team-high 19 games, with 13 starts, seven complete games and one shutout. She has struck out 31 hitters in 91-and-a-third innings and has a 4.14 ERA.
Hiram is scheduled to host Allegheny (Pa.) College on Thursday, Apr. 17 at Myrtis E. Herndon Field. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
