With the win, the Terriers improve to 16-13 overall, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 19-15 overall for the season.

Hiram grabbed an early lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI triple by junior first baseman Kelly Langland (Batavia/McNicholas) and a RBI groundout by freshman designated player/first baseman Alee Singer (Akron/Dayton).  B-W then scored four unanswered runs with a pair in the second and two more in the third to take a 4-2 advantage.  The Terriers evened the score at 4-4 with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to two-RBI single by Singer.  The score remained tied until the bottom of the sixth when Hiram sophomore outfielder Kristen Cooney (North Lewisburg/Triad) knocked home what turned out to be the game-winning run, that was set-up by a triple by sophomore outfielder Marlene Smith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) earlier in the inning.  Senior two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference pitcher/outfielder Whitney Dropsey (Ashland/Hillsdale) closed out the game on the mound as Hiram went on to win by the final of 5-4.

Hiram tallied nine hits in the game and was led offensively by Singer who finished two-of-three with three RBI.  Cooney also posted a two-for-three performance at the plate to go along with a run scored and a RBI.  Five other Terriers would also record a base hit in the win.

On the mound, freshman Sarah Bogdan (Strongsville) got the start and pitched three innings allowing four ones on eight hits, while striking out one batter.  Junior Sarah Padilla (Ontario, Calif./Colony) also pitched three innings and would be credited with the win, improving her to 4-1 for the season.  She allowed no runs or hits and had one strikeout.  Dropsey came on to pitch the seventh inning and claimed her first save of the season after giving up no runs or hits and struck out one batter.
