sue-compsciComputer science major Sulochana Bramhacharya ’13 was awarded second place for her research “Metagenomic Data Analysis using Clustering” at the Special Interest Group for Computer Science Educators’ undergraduate research competition.

Held March 2013, the SIGCSE conference is one of the premier national conferences for education in the field of computer science. This year, there were 13 entries for the undergraduate research portion of the conference. Each participant presented first in poster form, and then the top six students were asked to give a 15-minute oral presentation.

The top three presenters, including Hiram’s Bramhacharya, are now invited to submit a written version of their research for a competition between undergraduates from all of the special interest group conferences.

Biology professor Brad Goodner and assistant professor of computer science Louis Oliphant advised Bramhacharya on her research.
