Every four years, the Iowa caucuses mark the official beginning of presidential primary season. Hiram College scholar-in-residence Jason Johnson was in Iowa the week of Jan. 2, 2012, analyzing the results, which found former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney defeating former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum by a margin of just eight votes.

Johnson is a frequent political commenter and contributor for various news outlets, including WKYC, Al Jazeera, CBS, NPR and more. Throughout the primary season, which runs through June 26, 2012, Johnson will continue to comment on the results, and how they may affect the presidential election on Nov. 6, 2012. Ohio’s primary elections, along with nine other states, will take place on March 6, 2012, also known as Super Tuesday.

Stay tuned, as Hiram College will continue to post Johnson’s contributions to the 2012 elections here on news.hiram.edu and the Garfield Institute for Public Leadership website.
