Thomas V. Chema, president of Hiram College, has been elected to the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Board of Directors. President Chema will serve a three-year term from January 2008 to January 2011.
The elections were held during a meeting of the Board of Directors at CIC’s 2008 Presidents Institute in Marco Island, Florida on January 4.
Among the responsibilities of the CIC Directors are providing fiduciary oversight for the allocation of CIC’s assets and approving operating budgets; participating in the development and approval of long-range plans; and advising on the direction of the association’s programs and services.
“The Council is pleased to have President Chema as a Board member,” said CIC President Richard Ekman. “CIC is in the midst of implementing many exciting new projects, and needs a strong Board of Directors to oversee their planning and execution. I am certain that President Chema will serve the Council admirably, and look forward to working with him.
“I’ve participated in many trade organizations in my career, but this one is the best,” said Chema. “I believe this will help give Hiram College more national visibility.”
