Students and alumni came together for Homecoming 2013 celebrate their Terrier pride.

Festivities began for students on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with late-night dodgeball and continued Thursday and Friday with a comedian performance, the Homecoming parade and bonfire.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, the day began with the William H. Hollinger Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The following alumni were inducted: Jim Bodmer ’73 (swimming, soccer), Oscar Chaves ’82 (soccer), April (Vansach) Elwood ’91(softball), Meg Frey ’90 (swimming), Tony Hassett ’82 (football), Matt Morris ’00 (football), Jeff Smith ’00 (track and field, football), Julie (Paolano) Solis ’96 (basketball).

At halftime of Saturday’s football game versus the College of Wooster, seniors Carson Applewhite and Brendon James were crowned Homecoming Queen and King.

Applewhite, of San Francisco, is a nursing major, who has served as president of Hiram’s Student Nurse Association and is currently on the board of the National Student Nurse Association. She was a member of the Hiram College swim team for three years and is a water polo player for Ohio Cup teams. Applewhite currently works at Cleveland Clinic in pediatric oncology and plans to pursue a career in the field after graduation. James, of Brunswick, is a chemistry major. He is a member of the Hiram College football team and works in the Student Engagement office.
