Sophomore Autumn Osgood (Hyde Park, Vt./Lamiolle Union) scored a school record six goals to lead the Hiram College women’s lacrosse team to a 12-10 overtime win over Linfield (Ore.) on Thursday.

The Terriers are now 2-4 on the season, while the Wildcats are 0-10.

Osgood’s six goals broke the school record of four, previously set in 2013 by four players.

Freshman Sierah Ray (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) added a career-high three goals for the Terriers.

Linfield battled back from a 7-3 halftime deficit to tie the game at 9-9 with 1:23 left to play.

Junior Hannah Schaefer (Kent/Roosevelt) put the Terriers on top with 1:14 left. But the Wildcats would get a score with nine seconds left to tie the game at 10-10 and force the extra session.

In overtime, Ray scored 16 seconds in to put Hiram in front 11-10.

Osgood would score her sixth and final goal with 1:34 left to cap off the 12-10 win.

Hiram’s defense was dominant in the overtime, not allowing Linfield to take a shot.

Osgood got the Terriers rolling early scoring her first goal of the contest at the 27:44 mark. Hiram scored the first five goals of the game to build a 5-0 lead.

Linfield got on the board at the 11:15 mark, but the Terriers came right back on a goal by Osgood with 10:31 left.

Osgood would make the score 7-1 with a goal at the 7:45 mark of the first half.

The Wildcats scored the final two goals of the first half and slowly chipped away at the Hiram lead to force overtime.

Freshman Rachel Metcalf (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) made seven saves in goal for Hiram.

Both teams finished with 26 shots in the contest, with the Linfield holding a slim 40-39 edge in ground balls.

Hiram will play next on Saturday, when it returns to NCAC play with a road contest at DePauw (Ind.) at 11 a.m.
