The No. 16 Hiram College men’s soccer team fell to non-conference foe Otterbein in overtime 3-2 on Wednesday evening at the Hiram Soccer Complex.
The Terriers fall to 5-2-0 on the season, while the Cardinals move to 3-3-0.
Hiram got on the board 18:36 into the match.
Junior Richie Webb (London, England/Laude Lady Elizabeth School) sent a cross into the box. Senior Andy Harding (Akron/Revere) headed the ball towards the goal and it bounced off the past and into the net, giving HC the early lead.
The goal was Harding’s team leading sixth of the season and the assist was Webb’s team leading fourth of the year.
In the second half, the Terriers would push their lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute.
Harding sent a ball into the box that sophomore Santiago Montano (Woodland, Tex./The Woodlands College Park) put past the keeper.
But Otterbein would storm back, netting goals in the 79th and 89th minute to force overtime.
The Cardinals would win the match just 18 seconds into overtime, when Jared Pulliam found the back of the net.
Hiram held a 18-13 advantage in shots and a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
Hiram will return to action on Saturday, when it opens up NCAC play at home against DePauw (Ind.) at 7 p.m.
