Assistant Professor of Music Dawn Sonntag has been selected as one of 10 professional conductors from the U.S., Europe and Australia to participate in the Sarteano Choral Festival Workshop this summer in Sarteano, Tuscany, Italy. The participants will conduct professional singers and conductors in rehearsals at the Società Filarmonica and in a concert at the Teatre de Sarteano.
Sonntag has also been selected as a composer for the American Choral Director’s Association Choral Composers’ Forum at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., in June. During the symposium, which runs from June 23 – 30, a group of professional composers will compose new works for the renowned Princeton Singers, a professional choir based in Princeton, N.J. The works, which will be composed in a few days’ time, will be premiered at Lehigh University and performed June 30 in Washington D.C. at the National Symposium on Choral Music.
Further activities this summer include commissions to compose and perform a recital of art song for the 2013 Constance Fenimore Woolson conference in Atlanta, Ga., and an extended sacred work for Valparaiso University Concert Choir in Valparaiso, Ind.
